Southerns like fried food just as much they like football. A fun fact about fried pickles–they were popularized by Bernell “Fatman” Austin in 1963 at the Duchess Drive In located in Atkins, Arkansas.

Ingredients

1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
4 Tbsp. Panhandle Chicken Fried Steak Seasoning
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
28 dill pickle chips
Notes

This recipe also works great with our Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Spices or Lake Barkley Fried Chicken Seasoning.

Directions

Combine flour, cornmeal and seasoning in one bowl and whisk eggs together in another. Heat oil in a skillet to 350 degrees. Dip pickle slices in egg and then in seasoned flour mixture. Shake off excess flour. Place coated pickle slices in the skillet and fry until browned on each side. Set on paper towels to drain. Serve hot.

Serving Suggestions

Serve as a starter for any Southern-inspired meal. Serve with our Smoked Black Pepper Ranch Dressing or our Black & Bleu Cheese Dressing as a dip.
