Summit went 0-10 last year. The Spartans might have started 2015 the same way, on paper, with a 27-15 loss at Spring Hill last night. But that is just on paper. The Spartan team that played last night gave Spring Hill a lot of trouble. And Summit showed spirit all day long:

Summit Shows Promise in Spring Hill Loss
Spring Hill quarterback Tylin Oden did just about everything, leading the Raiders to a quick 14-0 lead. The Spartans gave him some trouble though, at least making him earn his stat line, 11 of 18 passing with two touchdowns and another 16 rushes for 208 and a score.
Summit recovered, though. Summit quarterback Michael Zakrzewski took the Spartans down the field and running back Tai Carter took them into the end zone, which with a successful two-point conversion, closed the gap to 14-8 at the half.
Oden orchestrated another scoring drive in the third, running in from 20 yards out to put Spring Hill up 20-8.
But in the fourth Summit surged back again, with Carter cutting into the end zone for his second score of the night, bringing the Spartans to within 5, 20-15.
But the talent of Oden took the day. He strung together a few big passes and made plays with his feet on a mid-fourth quarter drive that ended with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Johnson.
Summit could not respond and time ran against them. The final, 27-15, did not represent how close the game felt.
