InFocus Rumor Mill
If you have a student in the Williamson County Schools you should be signed up to receive the InFocus Newsletter. It is a fantastic way to see what is going on and learn how and why things happen the way they do in our schools.

This issue talks about what makes Power Monday’s special and how teachers at schools get the opportunity to share in groups and make the learning environment for students better. There is an update on how the BYOT – Bring Your Own Technology is going and how the advisory council is giving student a voice.

Information is included on the possible land purchase, a story on how Fairview students lend a helping hand and most importantly there is the Q & A section called the Rumor Mill. The Rumor Mill provides insight and answers to commonly asked questions. One person asks why fall break is so short and another wants to know details about the new high school in the northeastern part of the county.

The strongest comment was one that hit me hard in my daughter’s senior year. It asks about the choice of which company will do student photos and why. The parent wanted to know why their options changed and prices went up. The key to this discussion was the question, “Do parents get to weigh-in on this decision?”

Yes parents your voice matters, but you have to speak up before decisions are made. Sign up for the newsletter, join the parent organizations and read local news to stay on top of what is happening in your school system. You can and should be active and make a difference for your children.
