GraceWorks Ministries has received a $25,000 grant to help support food assistance programs for Williamson County residents. The grant was given through the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program and will help fund GraceWorks’ Fuel Bag Program—a program which provides food for children on the free/reduced lunch program at school with healthy food for the weekends and holidays. It will also aid in providing grocery carts of food to families in need.
Last year, GraceWorks delivered 4,075 grocery carts of food and provided Fuel Bags to 500 students per week.
“We are so grateful for the Walmart Foundation’s support as we work to make sure every family in our community has enough to eat,” said Kristi Sylvester, GraceWorks development director. “Thanks to this grant, we will be able to help even more families and children who are facing food insecurity.”
This grant was made possible by the Walmart Foundation’s Tennessee State Giving Program (SGP), which supports organizations that create opportunities for people to live better. Last year, more than $1 million was given through this program to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, Feed America First of Tennessee and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. All prospective grantees submit applications through SGP and have a current 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status.
