Fairview Man Shot & Killed Outside Home, TBI Investigation Underway

crime scene

At the request of District Attorney General Kim Helper, TBI Special Agents are investigating the circumstances that led to an officer-involved shooting that occurred shortly after 1 o’clock a.m. CT Tuesday at 7125 Hill Hughes Road in Fairview, in Williamson County

Initial reports indicate that two officers with the Fairview Police Department responded to a disturbance call at that address. When they arrived at the scene, they encountered a male individual outside the home who was armed with a firearm. The preliminary investigation indicates that when the individual was non-compliant with the officers’ commands, one officer deployed his Taser. The Taser, however, was ineffective, and the individual drew his weapon. At that point, one of the officers fired his weapon at the individual, striking and killing him.

The name of the deceased individual is not being released at this time. No officers were injured during this incident.

TBI Special Agent Forensic Scientists with the Violent Crimes Response Team have also responded to the scene and are collecting evidence and documenting the scene.

TBI Agents serve as fact-finders in these investigations. At the conclusion of the investigation, Agents will submit the findings to the District Attorney General for her review and consideration.

The TBI does not identify officers involved in these types of investigations and instead refers such inquiries to the respective local law enforcement agencies.
