Original Story:

If you haven’t spent at least one lunch hour exploring Radnor Lake you are seriously missing out. This 1200 acre State Natural Area has something for everyone and is only two miles past Old Hickory on Granny White Pike. From fauna to fawns you will enjoy your visit. Deer flood the woodland and will come within 3 feet of you as you stroll along the well kept paths.

Radnor Lake Brentwood

This is a protected area, so don’t attempt to feed or pet the wildlife. Food and drink are not allowed in the park, but water bottles are fine. All of the trails are fully covered providing shade and comfort on your hike. Radnor Lake has a visitor’s center where you can learn more about the park and its inhabitants, meet their two snakes and watch a video about the area. Restrooms are available and currently being renovated.

This haven has regularly scheduled activities like canoe floats and educational programs.

Ranger Jenkins often gives tours and talks about the history of Radnor Lake and how it came to be the first area of its kind in the state. The road through the park is available to walkers and trails range in distance from 2-6 miles in length. The view from the road is breathtaking. On my last visit volunteers were removing brush, clearing paths and mulching. Every fourth Saturday of the month is volunteer day from 8 A.M. to Noon.

Contact [email protected] or call the center at (615) 373-3467 if you are interested in helping out.
