Missing 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas, from Columbia, has been found safe in Northern California and her alleged kidnapper, 50-year-told Tad Cummins has been arrested.

Cummins’ SUV was found in northern California late Wednesday night. Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kelly Giordano said the license plate had been removed from the car, which was confirmed to belong to Cummins through the VIN number.

Siskiyou County is one of the northernmost counties that borders the state of Oregon.

Elizabeth disappeared on Monday, March 13th and it is believed Cummins, a former teacher at her school in Maury County, kidnapped her. The school district in Maury County terminated Cummins in the wake of an ongoing investigation into alleged inappropriate contact he had with Thomas at the school earlier this year. The two were spotted on surveillance video at a Walmart in Oklahoma, but had not been spotted since.
