Dogs don’t have an opinion on who you voted for. They just want a home.
On Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex on Hillsboro Road, one of the county’s many polling places, the Williamson County Animal Center brought out some of its dogs in the hope of raising awareness for shelter adoptions and finding them homes.
“The dogs don’t have a clue there is an election going on,” Debbie Sims, public information coordinator for WCAC, said. “They just want to be adopted.
“We thought with it being a stressful election for everybody, we brought them out as a stress reliever and to raise awareness of the need at the shelter for adoption. It was a great, great response with people going in and out to kind of put a smile on their face.”
The positive response has WCAC thinking they will try it at the next election at more polling places, according to Sims.
