In its first road trip of the season, CPA moved to 2-0 in a 35-7 Week 1 victory at Hillwood High School Friday night.

Bolstered by a rushing game that produced 183 yards on 33 carries, the Lions never trailed Hillwood after Max Pressley’s 10-yard touchdown put CPA up 7-0. Pressley had eight carries for 78 yards, while Jay Hockaday rushed 10 time for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, quarterback Zack Weatherly supplemented the ground attack with 106 yards of passing, completing 10 passes on 21 attempts for a touchdown and an interception.

Hillwood tied the game late in the second quarter with a 33-yard Demarcus Watts touchdown; however, CPA responded quickly when receiver Thomas Richard caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Weatherly with 12 seconds left in the half.

Hillwood outrushed CPA with 203 yards on the ground but couldn’t make anything happen in the air. The Hilltoppers manages just nine yards on four completions.

CPA will be on the road again for their matchup against Giles County. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
