City of Franklin Apologizes for Mistaken Anti-Trump Post

“Last night, you may have seen a social post from a political group that was picked up by the city’s monitoring tool and accidentally posted to Franklin’s Twitter account,” Communications Director Milissa Reierson said. “Please disregard. We quickly realized the mistake and the post was removed within a minute. This in no way reflects the opinion of the City of Franklin or the communications manager.”

City Administrator Eric Stuckey said the tweet was a mistake, and it no way reflected how the City of Franklin felt, considering it was a nonpartisan municipal government.

“It was an innocent mistake and corrected within a minute,” Stuckey said. “It was out there, and we are responsible for it.”

The posting from the City of Franklin originally appeared from Phil Shailer in Hollywood, Fla., who wrote a letter to the editor that went viral across the Internet after the election.

While it was out there for a limited amount of time, some fired back on social media demanding an explanation. Former City of Franklin Mayor Tom Miller was one, but he said he was less frustrated once he realized that the post wasn’t composed by a city employee.

  1. I can understand how something could be “accidentally’ posted but how could it have been “accidentally’ written? If it hadn’t been written, it would not have gotten posted.

  2. The city employee didn’t write anything. It’s a screen shot of a tweet with a screenshot in it so who knows why it was being shared.
