Bad Soden Germany Delegates Visit Franklin

Franklin Sister City Boden Germany Delegation

A delegation from Bad Soden, Germany has arrived in Franklin. Bad Soden is one of Franklin’s Sister Cities since 2017. The 15-member delegation is from Bad Soden Sister Cities Association, called the International Culture and Sporting Exchange (IKUS).  Franklin participates in a Youth Exchange Program with Bad Soden where high school students spend two weeks in each Sister City.

Community partners and volunteers in Franklin came together to make the German delegations trip a success. Visit Franklin hosted a historical tour of downtown on Monday and then Wednesday evening, Franklin Fire and Sister Cities hosted a BBQ dinner at Cool Creek farm in Thompson’s Station to celebrate German Reunification Day.

Later in the week the delegation was given a tour of the Factory with founder Calvin LeHew and took part in October’s edition of Franklin Art Scene. The group was also able to take part in some site seeing in Nashville throughout the week as well.

One young student will spend about two weeks with the City of Franklin as an intern.  A delegation from Franklin visited Bad Soden in August to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Bad Soden Fire Department.
