Brentwood Academy (4-3, 1-2) will be returning home this week to take on McCallie’s Blue Tornados (3-4, 1-2). Both in the Division II, Class AA- East and Middle Region, it will be a big match up for the Eagles.

Soaring past Pope John Paul II (3-4, 0-4) last Friday with a 57-6 win, BA will have its work cut out for them in the next match-up on Friday.

McCallie and Brentwood Academy both are on an equal playing field within the regional district. The Blue Tornados have taken a win against Pope John Paul II and suffered a loss to Baylor (5-1, 2-1) and Ensworth (6-0, 4-0) this season. The Eagles victory over the Knights last week gave them their first win in the region. Falling to Father Ryan (4-2, 1-1) and Montgomery Bell Academy (6-1, 2-1) mid-way through the season, BA is in hopes of getting its second regional district win Friday night.

The Eagles have flown past east Tennessee’s Science Hill (4-2), Liberty Tech (3-4), and Memphis University (5-2) to add on essential “W”’s this season. Last week’s match-up was no different.

The talented C.J. Sanders had two catches in the end zone for TDs and a 77-yard rushing scorer. The Class of 2015 prospect certainly has the recruiting world buzzing. A junior wide receiver, Sanders has had offers from schools like Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Duke.

Adding to the list of talent that McCallie will be up against, quarterback Tyler Swafford has sparked the interest of schools like Cornell, Dartmouth, and Pennsylvania. The all-star threw 11-of-15 for 191 yards and two TD’s for the Eagles last game.

MaxPreps.com has BA now ranked 9th in the state, just under Baylor (no. 6) and above McCalie (no. 13). There is no doubt that the Eagles are in one of the toughest district regions of football. Schools like Ensworth and Montgomery Bell Academy (MBA) have essentially produced some of the top football players in Middle Tennessee.

After McCallie’s 14-38 loss to Baylor last week, they will be hungry for a victory.

The Eagles will kick-off on the home turf at 7 p.m. Friday night.
