Williamson County Animal Center is pleased to announce that on September 4 and 5, 2015, Mars Petcare will sponsor all adoptions at the center, a PEDIGREE® partner shelter, in an effort to find pets a forever home. Event hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days.

The sponsored adoptions are part of Mars Petcare’s “Pet-Friendly Communities Initiative.” The initiative is designed to foster greater adoption of pet-friendly community policies and promote the benefits of pet ownership and pet adoption in the U.S.

On Friday, September 4 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., celebrity pet expert and author Harrison Forbes will appear at the shelter. Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Naomi Judd will be on hand from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, along with the American Humane Association’s Red Star Rescue Rig, an 82-foot-long truck fully equipped to handle disasters and on-the-ground rescue services for animals. Visitors can tour the rig.

In conjunction with the initiative, Mars Petcare has provided the shelter with 12 Wisdom Panel 3.0 DNA kits to help understand the breeds of some of the dogs available for adoption, and Mars Petcare Associates have volunteered many hours at Williamson County Animal Center.

The Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center is located at 106 Claude Yates Dr. in Franklin. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adoptable animals can be viewed at www.adoptwcac.org.
