The 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil begin today with the traditional opening ceremony, airing at 6:30pm on NBC. The opening ceremony includes an artistic program, which is a way for the host nation to showcase its heritage, tradition and national identity Film director Fernando Meirelles (known for City of God) is the creative force behind these Games opening ceremony.
The parade of nations, in which athletes and coaches from each participating nation walk through the stadium follows the artistic program. Michael Phelps, who has never walked in an Olympic Opening Ceremony before, will carry the U.S. flag.

Scout’s Pub opened in late June in the Westhaven community. Menu highlights include confit duck wings (served traditional hot or Asian), fish and chips, house-ground burgers, Irish bratwurst with colcannon mash, fresh salads, scratch made pizzas and a number of sides and shareables. The restaurant also offers an extensive list of carefully made cocktails, wine and craft beer, including local options from Blackstone Brewery, Mantra Artisan Ales, Little Harpeth Brewing Co. and more.

Head to Nolen’s Place in Nolensville for the start of the Games. Make sure to bring an empty stomach, as their menu boasts some delicious items like fried pickles, chili, buttermilk biscuits, flatbreads and so much more.
