Vigil Held for 2 People Killed on I-40

Loved ones gathered Monday on the side of the road at I-40 E. and Charlotte Pike in West Nashville to hold a vigil for Michael Dombrowski and Sarah Pierce, who were killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon, reports FOX 17.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 1995 Honda CEX was traveling eastbound on I-40 at a high rate of speed when the car traveled off the roadway, struck a rock wall, then crossed back over the Interstate and collided with a retaining wall.  The car landed upside down, ejecting all three passengers. Michael Dombrowski, 29, and Sarah Pierce, 23, both of Dickson, Tennessee, died at the scene.  Benjamin Benayce, 35, of Dickson, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

It remains unclear who was driving the Honda.  There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene.
