Ground was broken yesterday on Vandalia Cottages– a pocket neighborhood located on Boyd Mill Avenue, in a National Register Historic District. Vandalia Cottages will consist of 17 distinctive homes with four different cottage designs, ranging from 1,240 sq. ft. to 1,805 sq. ft.
Original Story 7.16.13
Franklin-based Bristol Development Group will break ground on Vandalia Cottages on Monday, July 22nd, at 4:30 p.m. This residential development is one of the last underdeveloped lots in Franklin’s historic downtown core. The ceremony will be held at the pedestrian entrance of the property at 410 Boyd Mill Avenue.
Bristol has partnered with Nashville-based DA|AD, one of the leading architecture firms in the Southeast, to create a pocket neighborhood concept of 17 units centered around common courtyards. Four different cottage designs range from 1,240 to 1,805-square feet, all within easy walking distance of downtown Franklin’s Historic Main Street retail district. Just three blocks from Main Street, the community will feature homes with broad front porches, reclaimed antique front doors, antique newel posts and gas lanterns. Other amenities will include chef-grade appliances, granite, marble and hardwoods throughout, tiled baths, individually selected lighting, manicured gardens and virtually no yard maintenance.
“Vandalia Cottages underscores the importance of a strong sense of place, offered through a small, close-knit community, top-quality finishes and innovative design—and at a price that hasn’t existed within the Mack Hatcher loop. The pocket neighborhood concept is designed to address density, privacy and community in a way that encourages greater interaction among neighbors and a more social lifestyle,” said a recent release from Bristol.
