Rock Group’s Tour Bus Crashes With Semi on I-40

Hinder tour bus crash

A rock group’s tour bus was involved in a serious crash with a semi and SUV on Interstate 40 in Cookeville Wednesday, reports several news sources.

The band Hinder were on their way to play in North Carolina. “Investigators say the accident occurred after a semi slowed to a near stop when it was reportedly rear-ended by the tour bus, causing it to hit a Chevy Tahoe,” reports WKRN.

The east bound lanes of I-40 in Putnam County were closed for a few hours. In all, 10 people were on the bus and the driver was extricated and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Wednesday afternoon, Hinder made this post on Facebook:

“We just wanted to let everyone know that we were in a bus accident today outside of Cookeville, TN. Mike and our lighting guy Clint are in the X-ray room right now. Our bus driver, Dave is being transferred to a hospital in Nashville.”

Immediately following the car crash, the bus driver’s service dog–an Australian Shephard named Cuzco went missing. But by evening time, local authorities had located Cuzco.

From Hinder’s Facebook:

“Great news!! Cuzco is safe!! Special thanks to the Putnam County Emergency Management Agency and the Cookeville Regional Medical Center for taking care of us today! Please send thoughts and prayers to our driver, Dave as he is in surgery now. Mike and our lighting guy, Clint both have broken ribs but will be okay. More updates soon. Thank you all for the messages today!!”
