Main Street/U.S. 31 Repaving on the Way in Spring Hill

u.s. 31 repaving

According to Spring Hill Alderman Jonathan Duda, traffic might get pretty dang bad in late spring.

On the other hand, U.S. 31 in Spring Hill will be repaved in time for summer.

Details and just how much will be paved will come out soon.

This is not in any way related or going to push back, however, the long-planned widening of U.S. 31.

“It is just a resurfacing,” Duda said. “It has been planned . . . for years.”

Last fall, the city presented a $19 million plan to the TDOT for the U.S.-31 widening project, which was approved. The project spans from Miles Johnson Parkway to Buckner Road and is now on the state’s official planning horizon for 2021-2030.

The city, however, has been trying to speed things up. It proposed funding early design work and partnering on right-of-way acquisition and construction costs. How it shakes out will be decided in this spring’s legislative session.
