Did you know that an express bus is available to you if you need to get into Nashville for work? Williamson County residents who commute to downtown Nashville or Vanderbilt University have the option of riding an express bus to and from work instead of fighting traffic every day. The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) expanded its regional bus network to Williamson County in December 2009 with the addition of two more routes. The routes from Nashville to the Franklin/Brentwood and Thompson’s Station/Spring Hill areas operate during rush hour.
Customers riding these new routes are able to use their commute time for work or leisure, save money on gas, and help the environment by reducing traffic congestion and auto emissions.
Route 91X Franklin/Brentwood Express originates in Franklin and includes a stop at the Civitan Park parking lot on Concord Road next to Lipscomb Elementary School. There are three trips in the morning and three trips in the afternoon. On the RTA website you can the schedule and map.
Service is provided through an RTA contract with Gray Line. Buses for the routes are equipped with restrooms and televisions and can accommodate up to 56 passengers. Cost is $4.25 per ride or $73.50 for a 20-Ride pass.
Since the 91X Franklin/Brentwood Express began operating in December 2009, ridership has increased steadily. Average monthly ridership in January 2013 was 3,203, a 7.6% increase compared to the same month in 2012.
