It was supposed to be a wild ride . A high scoring close game. And, it started that way when CPA took the opening kickoff in the Class 3A Blue Cross Bowl . 10 plays , 4:13 seconds later CPA marched down the field 83 yards to take a 7-0 lead. And that was it. There were great running games and defense on both sides of the ball. There were also few mistakes, few passes and no more scoring.

Alcoa came in with a highly touted running game and last year’s defeat of CPA in the Championship on their side. CPA came in with one hurdle, after putting the Milan hurdle behind them last week, beat Alcoa. And, while CPA Offensive Player of the Game Hockaday racked up a huge day on the ground (27-131-1TD), it was CPA’s defense that did a lot of the damage. Holding Alcoa to 205 yards, it was at the crucial times of the game that CPA did it’s damage holding Alcoa to 3-11 on third down conversions and 1 of 4 on fourth downs.

CPA’s team of Hockaday and Weatherly rushed for a total of 203 yards combined. Alcoa as a whole rushed for a total of 169 yards. Final Score: CPA 7  Alcoa 0

CPA won their 3rd title in what was the hardest hitting, best game of the day.
