Brentwood Native Hired As City Attorney

Kristen Corn Brentwood City Attorney

The City of Brentwood has named Kristen Corn as the City Attorney. Corn officially started Monday, March 12, 2018. Roger Horner previously held this position and retired in January 2018 after 33 years with the City of Brentwood.

Corn previously worked for the City of Franklin as the Assistant City Attorney, a staff attorney, and a paralegal since 2007. She is a Cum Laude graduate of The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the Nashville School of Law. Raised in Brentwood, Corn graduated from Brentwood High School and lives in Brentwood with her husband and three children. Corn is also currently the President of the Williamson County Bar Association involved with the Tennessee Bar Association.

City Manager Kirk Bednar said, “I am confident that Kristen brings the right combination of legal knowledge and experience, community involvement, and the organizational fit we were looking for in trying to replace Roger. She was also very highly recommended from other attorneys whom I respect as well as the leadership at the City of Franklin.”

Corn will be responsible for all the city’s legal matters involving any litigation, drafting ordinances and contracts, reviewing policies and city rules, along with writing demand letters for delinquent accounts. At the March 12 regular City Commission meeting, Corn said she is excited to be employed by the City of Brentwood.  “I grew up in Brentwood, married my high school sweetheart who also went to Brentwood High School. We are raising our family here so it’s really an honor to serve the community in this capacity,” Corn said. Corn has three children, two whom attend Brentwood schools.

Mayor Jill Burgin said, “It is great to have someone who grew up here in the city and is now working for the city. It is an incredible opportunity to have someone who knows Brentwood as a lifelong resident. That means a lot to me to have you here, so welcome,” Burgin added. Commissioner Ken Travis said, “I was very impressed with you during the interview process and I know you will do great things for the city.”
