Belmont Baseball Makes History

The Belmont Bruins baseball team had a record-setting Sunday, defeating Ohio Valley Conference rival UT Martin 34-10.

Belmont held a 9-4 advantage entering the sixth inning before breaking out to a 20-run frame that saw 26 batters come to the plate. The previous NCAA record was 24.

In total, Belmont set three records in the inning: batters (26), RBI (20), and total bases (43).

Their seven home runs in the sixth tied a NCAA record. They finished the game with 12 homers – two shy of another record.

Nick Egli, a Battle Ground Academy alum, hit two of those Bruin home runs while Brentwood Academy alum Kyle Conger had two hits and scored three runs.

Belmont’s next game is March 31 against Lipscomb.
