High Hopes Development Center will celebrate Week of the Young Child™ beginning with a performance by local musician Kevin Griffin on Monday, April 8. Griffin will play songs for the kids and staff at High Hopes.
“Week of the Young Child™ is a fun-filled way to celebrate our young learners,” said Gail Powell, High Hopes Executive Director. “We’re thrilled to have Kevin perform for our children in observance of Music Monday, the first themed day in our week-long celebration. It’s a great way to kick off this special week.”
Week of the Young Child™ was created by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and encourages early childhood programs and community organizations to celebrate young learners during five themed days.
In addition to Music Monday, High Hopes will host:
Taco Tuesday: Promotes nutrition by encouraging students to bring healthy toppings for a taco lunch.
Wacky Wednesday: Encourages students to “embrace uniqueness” by wearing silly clothes and crazy hair.
Thrilling Thursday: Explores student’s imaginations through dressing up as storybook characters, superheroes, etc.
Family Friday: Celebrates High Hopes families with a Spring Fling complete with crafts, food trucks and train rides for children.
Griffin, a resident of Franklin, is a vocalist and guitarist for the rock band Better Than Ezra and also has a solo career. He is a co-founder of Franklin’s Pilgrimage Music Festival, which recently formed a charitable partnership with High Hopes.
“With the festival still months away, we are grateful to see the impact they are already having as our charitable partner,” Powell said.
