aimeesaundersAimee Saunders is the second Archivist for Williamson County. She has lived in Thompson’s Station since 2011, and has had a passion history since she was a child growing up in Virginia. Aimee trained to be an Archivist at Simmon’s College in Boston.

How long have you worked at the Williamson County Archives?
I began working at the Archives in April of 2013.

What kind of information is held at the Archives? 
We hold permanent records for Williamson County Government dating back to when the county was founded in 1799. This includes court cases, marriage records, probate and deeds. We also have a vertical file of local history material and a library collection for historical and genealogical research.

Tell me a bit about the museum element.
The museum holds a wide variety of artifacts from Civil War era objects and farm equipment to quilts and hand crafted furniture. There is really something for everyone. This summer, from June through the end of September, we will be open Monday – Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Who owns the Williamson Archives?
The Williamson County Archives is a department of the Williamson County Government.

How did the Williamson Archives get started?
The movement to get a county archives established here was headed by Louise Lynch. She became the first County Archivist when the department was established in 1993.
