Don’t Miss the Hillbilly Half Marathon in Leiper’s Fok

Formerly known as the Franklin Half Marathon, the 2017 Hillbilly Half Marathon takes place in Leiper’s Fork on June 3. Now in its fifth year, runners enjoy this run, because it takes you through the pristine, rolling hills of rural Williamson County.

According to the website, it states the race has been recognized as one of the most difficult, yet scenic half marathons in the Southeast. The heat, humidity, and hills will challenge all athletes, but in the end, you will be proud of your accomplishment, as you bite into a fresh Georgia “finisher” peach from The Peach Truck Nashville. There will be motivation, and possibly some heckling along the course, but it is all in good fun.

Watch the video from the 2015 marathon where runners heard some banjo music, heckling and keep watching the video for an unexpected event at 4:22.  After the race, the video went viral with almost one million views.

For those who are serious runners, this may be the race for you. Hillbilly Half Marathon is upfront about the race – stating it is not a race for the uptight, easily offended, scared of banjos, those who don’t like hills, heat, or humidity.

Currently, there is a discount for early registration to the marathon, or you can choose the Little Billy 5K. Register before April 15 for a discounted price of $65 for the marathon, and $30 for the 5K.
