Franklin 4 The Cure is Westhaven’s annual fundraiser benefiting Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital At Vanderbilt. This year’s event will take place on September 16- 17. The proceeds from Franklin 4 The Cure go to fund Discovery Grants for pediatric cancer research conducted at Vanderbilt Hospital.

This year, Franklin 4 The Cure, will be a two day event beginning on Friday night with a color run/walk beginning at 6:30 pm in the Westhaven community and a concert, featuring former American Idol contestant and country music star, Kellie Pickler, on Saturday, Sept. 17th, starting at 6:00pm on the Great Lawn at the Westhaven Residents Club.

Spring Hill’s historic downtown district along Main Street

More than 20 artists will be showing their artwork in businesses and churches along Main Street. The walk begins at the Spring Hill Arts Center’s gallery and proceeds along Main Street to the front lawn of Ferguson Hall.

Arica Robinson, Spring Hill Art Walk organizer, said that local artist Damaris Niño will paint Spring Hill’s first mural as a part of this year’s event.

The Spring Hill Parks & Recreation Department announced a new event for Sept. 17 where the Port Royal Park splash pad will be available for the area’s dogs.

Residents are invited to bring their dogs out to the splash pad on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The “Doggy Splash” event will be the last day of operation for the splash pad in 2016 as the summer season comes to a close for the city’s parks department. The splash pad closed for human use on Sunday, Sept. 11.

According to Sonja Rine, recreation manager for the city’s park’s department, it has become popular among many municipal parks and recreation departments to host such a dog-friendly event at the end of the summer season.

Chris Lee, a lead in the Chicago production of the Tony-award winning musical, “Hamilton” and Nate Strasser, film composer, pianist and staff accompanist for the musical theater department at Belmont University will perform at East Brentwood Presbyterian Church’s ” A Night on Broadway” on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Where can you see all nine WCS high school marching bands in one evening? At the 20th Annual Williamson County Marching Band Exhibition, which will take place at Page High School on Saturday, September 17.

Each band will perform a preview of the half-time and competition shows for this fall season. The event will culminate with a combined performance of eighth grade and high school bands from across WCS and and the Franklin Special School District.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with performances beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets prices are $10 per adult and $5 per child. Children five and younger are free. Proceeds from the event go to support the Williamson County band programs.
