Dry Creek Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, 2015
Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma
Ah, Sauvignon Blanc. Is there a better wine to quaff during the hot and humid days of a Tennessee summer? As is the case with a fair portion of the noble grapes, Sauvignon Blanc has its roots in France. But this wonderful expression hales from the Dry Creek Valley in north central Sonoma County. I like white wines with great acidity and a crisp tone on the palate and this bottle does not disappoint. Aromas of a wet, grassy pasture with fresh tropical fruits give way to a lean and racy glass of wine. The fruit components are present, but in a subtle way with the mineral and stoney flavors dominating. Close your eyes, and you’ll pick up the delicate hints of apricot, green melon and a kiss of under ripe pear. Dry, crisp and very lean, I love this wine with a plate of fresh gulf oysters..
