Local Guitar Player from Prince’s Revolution Confirms Reunion

After the recent passing of Prince, Prince’s original band The Revolution posted a Facebook video, teasing that they would reunite in honor of Prince. At the time, no details were given as to when and where the reunion would take place.

Yesterday, the band confirmed they would reunite for two dates in September. The two concerts will be held in Minneapolis First Avenue Mainroom on September 2-3.

Dez Dickerson, of Franklin, was the guitarist for The Revolution.

“We’re all excited to be performing together again. We did a similar show back in 2014, but this will be our first time together on stage since Prince’s passing. It’s a bittersweet occasion, but our feeling is that it’s for our fans first and foremost. For that reason, we’re going back to where it began and doing it at First Avenue,” he said.

Original members of The Revolution include: Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z., Brown Mark, and Matt Fink along with Dez Dickerson and André Cymone.

The Revolution was formed in 197, prior to Prince’s first self titled album. The band appeared on Prince’s 1982 album 1999.

Tickets for the concert go on sale on Friday, July 8th.
