Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Derrick Mason surrendered to police Monday night for booking on arrest warrants issued earlier Monday afternoon charging him with felony aggravated domestic assault and misdemeanor vandalism.

According to a release from Metro Nashville Police, a 43-year-old woman that Mason has been dating called police to come to her Bellevue area home shortly before 9:30 a.m. The woman told police that she was physically assaulted, grabbed by the neck and struck in the stomach, during an argument earlier in the morning after she told Mason she wanted to end their relationship.

Metro detectives from the Domestic Violence Division observed bruising on the victim’s right upper arm, a red mark on the right side of her neck, and a scratch on the top of her left hand. They also saw a hole on the back of the wooden front door, that the woman claimed was caused by Mason.

Mason, 43, was not at the residence when police arrived, but reported for booking downtown after being made aware that warrants had been sworn out on him for his arrest. The Domestic Violence Division has no record of prior incidents between the two.
