Columbia Couple Convicted of Assault on Nashville Music Producer

A Maury County couple plead guilty last week to assaulting Nashville music producer David Brainard and his friend, Deborah Deloach, on Demonbreun Street in the early morning hours of September 27, 2015.

Dustin Carl Hargrove, 30, of Old Highway 50A in Columbia, was convicted on two counts of simple assault. His wife, Nichole M. Hargove, 30, was convicted of one count of simple assault, WKRN reported. Both were sentenced to probation and eight hours of community service.

The Hargroves reached a plea deal, two days before their trial was scheduled. It would have begun Monday.

The Hargroves had come to Nashville on September 26, 2015, to attend a wedding, the reception for which was held at the Country Music Hall of Fame. At 1 a.m. on the 27th, Brainard, 40, and Deloach, 33, were in a crosswalk in the 1500 block of Demonbreun Street when an Infiniti sedan almost struck Deloach. The victims reported that Nichole Hargrove got out of the Infiniti and began screaming at Deloach and Brainard. The altercation became more heated, during which Dustin Hargrove is alleged to have gotten out and grabbed Brainard around the neck, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the pavement. Nichole Hargrove is alleged to have grabbed Deloach’s hair and forced her to the ground. Dustin Hargrove is alleged to have then put his leg into Deloach’s chest, pinning her.
