Big Trout Heading to the Caney Fork and Obey Rivers

As part of TWRA’s ongoing partnership with TVA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Region 3 receives hundreds of retired brood stock from Erwin National Fish Hatchery each year. A few hundred of these large rainbow trout have just been stocked in the Caney Fork River (Center Hill tailwater) and will be heading to the Obey River (Dale Hollow tailwater) very soon.

Our biologists have marked these fish with a small pectoral fin tag to differentiate them from other large rainbows during their annual trout surveys. There is no need to report these fish if caught so just enjoy the good fight these big guys will put up.
