If you didn’t leave town for the weekend, you might have cleaned out school backpacks. While cleaning out backpacks, you may have found stray crayons or crayola pencils.
Before you decide to throw those away, we have a great way to recycle or should we say up cycle. The new trend is to melt crayons to make lipstick.
Need more proof, watch “Brooke demonstrates new Crayola eyeliner trend” followed by “Crayola Colors Makeup Tutorial” and “How to make eyeliner with crayola pencils.”
While Crayola markets their products as safe and non-toxic, they did issue a statement regarding this new trend.
“As the manufacturer of children’s products, safety is our top priority at Crayola,” the company said in a statement. “Although our products are nontoxic, we do not recommend using them to make lipstick, eyeliner or other make-up and strongly discourage their use in this manner. They are not designed, tested or approved for this purpose.”
When we say trend, we mean you can search YouTube and find quite a few videos for Crayola tutorials. One blogger goes so far as to call the Crayola hotline to ask if Crayola is safe for your skin which she replies “yes.”
Did you know that in war time when women couldn’t buy pantyhose? They used brown gravy to paint a line on the back of their leg, so I’m giving these bloggers an A+ for creativity, however, we must keep in mind that the FDA regulates makeup differently than other products especially products that are used close to the eyes.
