alive hospice

Alive, the only nonprofit provider of hospice care and end-of-life services for Middle Tennessee, opened a new office in Franklin to better serve Williamson County where it has been caring for families in their homes for more than 40 years. The grand opening will take place on February 20 at 11:00 a.m. It is open to the public and will include a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Franklin location is part of Alive’s “Closer to Home” strategy designed to build deeper relationships in the communities it serves. Alive opened offices in Hendersonville and Lebanon and built a ten-bed residential care unit in Murfreesboro in 2017. The new office locations make visiting with clinical teams, educators, and grief counselors more convenient for patients and families who live outside Davidson County where Alive is headquartered.

“As a nonprofit, we are supported by the community, and the community is our bottom line. Growth for us means giving back, with more services, more support, more education, and more care for all. End of life knows no socio-economic boundaries. Through generous philanthropic support, we aim to ensure that all those in need may have peace, comfort, and dignity restored at the end of life,” said Alive’s President/CEO, Anna-Gene O’Neal.

The Franklin office will be headed by Alive clinical director and long-time Franklin resident Jill Cornwell RN, CHPN. Lunch and Learn educational seminars will be offered along with new bereavement support programs at this location. The space includes a dedicated grief group counseling room which was designed pro bono specifically for this purpose by designer Leslie Ann Wilson at local architecture firm ESa. The room was sponsored by Joni Werthan of Williamson County, in memory of her beloved best friend and business partner, Julie V. Bush, a patient of Alive who died in 2016.

New Grief Services

Alive is expanding its grief support services in 2019 under the leadership of its new grief center director, Alissa Drescher, MA, LPC, GC-C. Alive provides affordable grief support for the entire community, not just those who had a loved one in its hospice care. Its team of master’s-level counselors helped nearly 1,000 clients in their healing process last year. Alive’s counseling is offered at affordable rates thanks to our generous donors who support these programs.
