The 54 Film Festival, in conjunction with Regal Cinemas, Lipscomb University, and The Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film, will host its fourth annual Film Competition on Feb 27th at 5pm ending on March 1st at 11:59pm. The inception meeting for the 54 Film Fest – Franklin will take place at Columbia State Community College in Franklin, Tennessee.
The event–which comprises a weekend-long film competition, screening and networking event expects over 500 independent filmmakers and their families to attend this year’s screenings.
According to 54 Film Fest Corporate Producer Sarah LeJeune, “The Fifty-four Film Fest is built around a shootout format: teams have 54 hours to write, film, edit and produce a short film. Each team is assigned a genre, prop, line of dialogue and an action to include in its film.
In addition, teams can attempt to complete the Curveball Challenge, where teams receive an additional element to include in their films 24 hours into the project.”
The competition began in 2011 with 170 East Tennessee independent filmmakers producing 23 short films within 54 hours. Two weeks later, 54 Film Fest sold out its inaugural screening.
The 54 Film Fest is also launching it’s first year in Chattanooga, and there are plans to launch festivals in Seattle, LA, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, Lexington, Atlanta, Wilmington, Orlando, Charlottesville, New York, and Boston.
Regal Hollywood 27 joins as the new host for the screenings on March 21st in Middle TN from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The screenings will feature films from Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Franklin throughout the day, with an award ceremony concluding the festival in the evening. In addition, an after party and networking event will be held after the screenings.
The entry fee for teams wishing to compete is $50. Ticket cost for the screenings is $10.
