As we head into the end of summer, the weather can be fickle. One weekend, it’s brutually hot and the next it’s raining. From historical houses to hands-on adventure to fun activity and action centers, here are 10 sites in and near Williamson County that will keep your children entertained.
1. Lotz House Civil War Museum
Living in the south, when you have a historical site, it is almost always connected to the Civil War. The Lotz House is no different and adds to the rich history our state and local region already has with its part in the Battle of Franklin. Unlike many sites, the Lotz House shows remnants of the war that were left over rather than recreated.

2. Carter House & Carnton Plantation
These two houses carry the history and significance of the Civil War with them. Learning the history and seeing the sites, your children can learn to appreciate the history of their city and state.

3. Adventure Science Center
The center features many experiences for children and adults alike from interactive science exhibits, science demonstrations, 3D printing workshops, and a full-dome show in their Sudekum Plantearium. Members are free unless they want to visit the planetarium, otherwise, tickets are $15.95 for adults and teens, $11.95 for youth 2-12, 2 and under are free.

4. Frist Center for Visual Arts
The great thing about the Frist Center is that kids 18 and under get in free. Bring them to the Frist for an awesome introduction to visual art styles. While the Center has constant art work of its own, it also hosts several traveling exhibitions throughout the year.

5. King’s Bowl
King’s Bowl isn’t just about Bowling; they also offer Pool, Shuffleboard, Karaoke, and live entertainment. To top it off, they offer freshly made food from scratch that will enrich your taste buds; this food isn’t your typical bowling lane convenience food. 6. Goofballs
This place literally has a little of everything for children to enjoy and have fun. 7. The Monkey’s Treehouse
The Monkey’s Treehouse is the ultimate indoor playground for children up to 8-years-old. Kids can explore, climb, and slide on an amazing multi-roomed treehouse.
They can use their imaginations as they play in the town village, home living area, reading lounge, and art studio. The doll houses, train tables, cars, and lighted magnetic table are always super fun and stimulate creativity.
Toddlers ages 2 and under can enjoy a closed off section offering soft blocks, toddler slide, and many other age appropriate activities.

8. Above All Extreme Air Sports
Don’t let the “extreme” scare you. Above All is a trampoline park that incorporates tons of different play with basketball goals, tightrope, toddler area, and tons of other activities all combined with trampoline and foam. They even have a section specially dedicated to the fans of American Ninja Warrior. If you have a child that likes to jump, flip, and climb, this place is for them. 9. Country Music Hall of Fame and RCA Studio Tour
Learn a little country music history from the hall of fame, enjoy music and exhibits, then tour the RCA Studio for a little behind the scenes look into music production.

10. Tennessee State Capitol and Tennessee Military Museum
For a combination of history and education about current state legislature and events, these two places offer some unique insight that strictly historical places don’t have. Children can see how our state currently runs and who makes the decisions from day to day as well as make connections between their historical knowledge and current happenings.
