An undefeated Ravenwood squared-up against a well-matched John Overton High School last night, as the fell just shy by one point and even into overtime.  The Raptors traveled over to the Bobcat turf, finishing the game 33-34.

Starting off a little slow, the Raptors were unable to control the first half.  Overton was at a 20-10 advantage at halftime.

The Raptors were giving up major yardage to Overton by allowing a 66-yard TD to start-off the game.

They didn’t stop there.  Big-time collegiate prospect, Overton’s Ugo Amadi, intercepted QB Avery Jankowski’s pass to run it in for a 30-yard TD.  The struggle continued by a missed 35-yard field goal attempt.

Ravenwood’s spark was suddenly ignited and a comeback was in the works.  The Raptors worked their way down the field to get a FG in the second and put some points up on the board.

Overton’s impressive offense was still making sure to keep a strong hold before the half and ran in another TD.

Jankowski made sure to head back strong into the second half with a 33-yard touchdown to Cole Brown, bringing the Raptors up 20-17.  And Ravenwood would strike again with just six minutes left on the clock to gain another TD made by Seth Rowland.  The Raptors were now leading 24-20 and spirits were high.

The Bobcats answered right back with a TD and just one minute remaining in the game.  27-24 Ravenwood was down by 3-points and had to take a time-out.

The dynamic-duo Jankowski and Van Jefferson set up a field goal attempt to bring in the OT score of 27-27.

A pair of touchdowns would creep in the 33-34 final score just after a failed 2-point conversion to take the win by the Raptors.  Amadi deflected Jankowski’s pass that was intended for Jefferson.

The all-stare cornerback, Amadi, has been offered by schools like Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Duke.  On the Raptors side, wide receiver Van Jefferson has been offered by Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Clemson.  Ironically enough, both heavily scouted players will become members of the Class of 2015 and could possibly end up as collegiate teammates.

Ravenwood now 4-1 will make its way over to district rival Centennial next week to face the now 4-2 Cougars.

The Williamson Source will keep you updated on Ravenwood throughout the 2013 season.
