Vanderbilt Tops U.S. News and Reports with #1 Ranking

U.S. News and World Reports has once again named Vanderbilt University Medical Center as the number one hospital in Tennessee. The 966 bed hospital is Nationally Ranked in 8 specialties and Regionally Ranked in Nashville Metro Area and Tennessee.

VandyIt is also news worthy that Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt earned best children’s hospital in the state. Nationally Ranked in ten specialties, the hospital continues to earn top honors.

vanderbilt-hospital21Two years ago it was no secret that the hospital had struggled, $250 million budget reduction and major cuts in employment. However, these struggles did not effect the brand or clinical reputation as one of the region’s best hospitals. In addition, Vanderbilt is a major employer for the community.

National rankings began in 2012 and Vanderbilt has ranked first in the state since that time. Several VUMC service areas were also ranked or labeled “high performing” in the report.

It is worth noting that Saint Thomas West Hospital was ranked fifth and was Regionally Ranked in Nashville Metro Area. St. Thomas has 395 beds and 652 physicians on staff.
