A record breaking 71 students from WCS earned a perfect score on the writing portion of the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) test during the 2014-15 school year.
Of the 602,062 assessments taken in Tennessee, a total of 308 students in grades 3-11 statewide in 2015 received a perfect score on the TCAP Writing Assessment, according to the Tennessee Department of Education. Seventy-one of those students were Williamson County students.
The writing assessment included two passages. Students in grades 3-5 wrote one essay, and students in grades 6-11 wrote two essays. Writing rubrics were used to score each assessment. The writing rubrics included four traits: development, focus/organization, language and conventions. Each trait was scored individually on a four-point scale, with four being the highest possible score.
