The Father Ryan Fightin’ Irish are limping into the Division II-AA playoffs.

A 34-7 defeat Friday against the Baylor School Red Raiders (6-4, 2-4) was the Irish’s (4-6, 0-6) third loss in a row.

The loss kept the Irish winless in the Division II-AA East/Middle Region. In their last three games, they were outscored 109-17.

Houston Crouch led the way Friday for Father Ryan offensively. He rushed six times for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Crouch was the brightest spot in what was a tough night for the Irish offense. They gained just 161 yards of total offense as a team, just 34 of which came from their passing attack.

With its seventh-place finish in the Division II-AA standings, Father Ryan is tasked with traveling to play McCallie (6-4) in the first round of the Division II-AA playoffs next week. The Blue Tornado lost 42-32 to Brentwood Academy Friday.

When McCallie and the Irish met way back on Sept. 2, the Blue Tornado handed Father Ryan its first loss of the season 30-7.
