After learning about the cancellation of the ABC show ‘Nashville,‘ fans took to social media to share their disappointment. One fan, Brook Hoover, has even started a petition to move the show to Netflix.
“There is really no other show like Nashville that gives country songwriters in Nashville such a platform. It’s the only non reality TV show we can see our favorite country stars like Zac Brown, Kelsea Ballerini and Thomas Rhett. The music is amazing and for the past four years these characters have been a part of our lives every Wednesday night. We need Netflix to pick up this show and continue it for many years to come!”
Nashville Mayor Megan Barry also expressed her concerns on Facebook.
“We are incredibly disappointed to hear the news that ABC has not renewed the show Nashville for another season. The show has been an enormously successful promotional tool for our city, which is why the State of Tennessee and Metro Nashville were prepared to support production for a fifth season to be filmed here. This is a loss for ABC and for the millions of fans across the world who have grown to love this show. We have enjoyed hosting the cast and crew of the show over the last four years and look forward to future opportunities for film and television production here in Nashville.”
Cast members of the show ‘Nashville’ took to social media to express their feelings regarding the show cancellation.
There may be a glimmer of hope -Entertainment Weekly reports that the show is being shopped around.
“We’re looking for a new home. We never give up on a great show,” wrote Lionsgate television group chairman Kevin Beggs in an email to employees.
Maybe CMT will pick up the series?
