Brentwood Season Ends with Extra Inning Loss

Baseball

With two extra inning losses in back-to-back days, Brentwood’s incredible season came to an abrupt end as they fell to Dobyns Bennet 3-2 in the losers bracket, eliminating them from the State Tournament.

Today trailing 1-0 in the seventh, the Bruins rallied for a game-tying run and just like last night, the game was headed to extras.

Dobyns Bennet was also coming off a extra inning loss last night but their luck would change this morning.

Sammy Stewart, who homered last night, doubled in two runs in the eighth to give DB the 3-1 lead.

Brentwood wasn’t done yet. The Bruins loaded the bases up in the bottom of the eighth and Aaron Maher singled in a run to make it 3-2. The next batter grounded into a force out at home plate and that would be the last real chance the Bruins would have at getting even again.

Even with the two heartbreaking losses that ended their season Brentwood still had an amazing year tha should be celebrated. They finished with a 16-2 district record and a 28-8 overall record.
