New Neighborhood Park Opens in Franklin

On Wednesday, the weather was perfect for a day in the park. And that is just what it was at 204 Old Liberty Pike, where Franklin’s newest park had its ribbon cutting.

From 2 to 3 p.m. the county chamber of commerce hosted a grand opening ceremony and dedication for Old Liberty Pike Neighborhood Park.

Conceived as a project by this year’s group of Leadership Franklin cadets, the project has been germinating since the fall and under landscaping construction since February. Leadership Franklin connects talented teens with those in the business community each year to teach leadership skills.

The little-over half-acre park involved getting input from the neighborhood as to what kind of park they wanted, and could include a second phase with more landscaping.

“We are proud and happy to be here and to dedicate this park,” Travis Dumke, with Leadership Franklin and who works in Commercial Banking for Franklin Synergy Bank, said at the ribbon cutting.
