Veteran educator Paula Waits has been named Principal of Nolensville Elementary School. The announcement was made June 17th by Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. Waits has served as Assistant Principal at Oxford Middle School in Oxford, Alabama, since 2011. Prior to that time, she worked as a teacher in fourth, fifth and sixth grades.
“With more than 20 years experience in the classroom, Paula is a seasoned educator whose knowledge and experience will serve the Nolensville community well,” said Looney. “She is a proven leader who will continue to build on the excellence that is already in place at Nolensville.” Waits earned her Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and her Master’s in Elementary Education at Jacksonville State University.
“I am extremely excited and honored to become a part of the Williamson County School System as Principal of Nolensville Elementary. Over the past twenty-two years, I have been blessed to fulfill what I consider a “calling” to teach children while at the same time personally embarking on an exciting journey as a lifelong learner. Throughout my career, the simple but profound philosophy of, “A child will never care how much you know, until they know how much you care,” has developed into a way of life for me. My passion for helping each individual child realize their educational and personal potential, while nurturing their self-confidence, has made for a very rewarding profession,” said Waits. She will take over the role of Nolensville’s principal on July 1st.
