Ravenwood’s Jordan Smith ran for 96 yards and two scores, as the Raptors easily disposed of Independence, 34-7, in the second round of the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs.
Ravenwood quarterback Brian Garcia threw for 135 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-18 passing, while running for 36 more yards.
The Raptors (10-2) out-gained Independence, 420-203.
Linebacker Anthony McCarthy led the defense with 11 tackles and an interception return for a score.
Nick Stallcup (seven carries, 61 yards) scored a rushing touchdown on the Raptors’ first possession.
McCarthy returned an interception to help Ravenwood to a 27-7 advantage, then, Smith added to that with another touchdown run.
The Eagles’ Troy Henderson answered with a 1-yard scoring run.
A rushing touchdown from Smith, made it 20-7 with about two minutes left before half.
Independence ends its season at 6-6. Ravenwood will face Cane Ridge next week.
