Closures on I 440 will continue. Friday, July 26th marks the fourth of ten closures of the I 440 bypass for concrete work. From 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday, July 29th the road will be closed eastbound from the I-65 junction in Nashville to the I-24 junction, including the on and off ramps at Nolensville Road.
In other Road Construction News:
Signal Installation on Nolensville Road at Sunset Road started on Wednesday, July 24th and will continue through Wednesday July 31, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily. There will be alternating lane closures on Nolensville Road for signal work.
UPDATE 7.18.13:
The third of ten weekends will commence this Friday as part of the I-440 bypass in Nashville is shut down for repair. Remember to find an alternate route for your travels. Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will completely close I-440 eastbound from the I-65 junction in Nashville to the I-24 junction, including the on and off ramps at Nolensville Road, in order to perform concrete repairs this weekend. I-440 Eastbound between I-65 and I-24 will be closed starting Friday, July 19th at 8 p.m. through Monday, July 22nd at 5:00 a.m.

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will completely close I-440 eastbound from the I-65 junction in Nashville to the I-24 junction, including the on and off ramps at Nolensville Road, in order to perform concrete repairs this weekend. I-440 Eastbound between I-65 and I-24 will be closed starting Friday, July 12thth at 8 p.m. through Monday, July 15th at 5:00 a.m.
Original Story 6.24.13:
The plans to widen a stretch of I-440 Eastbound are part of a $9.7 million project and will required closures to complete work. The closures are designed to have the least impact on local traffic by proceeding in this manner. If completed in the normal manner this project could take several months and back up traffic daily during that time.
The first closure of I-440 East from I-65 to I-24 is scheduled to take place Friday, June 28th at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, July 1st, at 5:00 a.m. The next nine interstate closures are tentatively planned for the following weekends:
July 12th – July 15th
July 19th – July 22nd
July 26th – July 29th
August 2nd – August 5th
August 9th – August 12th
August 16th – August 19th
September 6th – September 9th
September 13th – September 16th
October 11th – October 13th
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of rain or severe weather. There will be no construction or lane closures during the July 4th and Labor Day holiday weekends and during the weekend of the Titans’ first pre-season game on August 24th and regular season games during September.
Detours are as follows:
From the North, take I-65 South to the I-65/I-40 split over to I-24
From the South, take I-65 North to go to I-24/I-40 or take the Harding Place exit over to I-24
From the West, stay on I-40 East to the I-65/I-40 split over to I-24
If you are driving on I-440 Eastbound, drivers will be advised to take I-65 North over to I-24 or I-40.
