Homestead Hosts Valentine’s Dinner & Dance

Homestead Manor - Valentines Day

Pull out the party dresses and shine up the dancing shoes. Homestead Manor will host a Valentine’s event complete with dinner and dance lessons on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Held in the farm-to-fork, multi-layer property’s events barn, the evening will begin with a community-style dinner showcasing ingredients from the Homestead Manor farm, followed by an hour of professional dance instruction led by local company Dare 2 Dance Ballroom.

Hannah Moeller, community program manager for Homestead Manor, says the event is an updated take on the Grand Dance in Valentine’s Days past.

“We’ve always enjoyed throwing festive events in the barn and have had great success with Valentine’s Day-themed gatherings in recent years,” Moeller said. “We are excited to offer dance lessons this year in addition to a fantastic meal, and think the evening will include plenty of laughs and romance for groups of friends and couples alike.”

The chef-inspired dinner spread will include a salad of mixed farm greens with roasted baby beets, compressed pickled fennel, rosemary candied pistachios, Mizithra cheese and creamy blood orange dressing and a pumpkin and ginger bisque with marinated heirloom carrot ribbons topped with almond crumble, followed by a surf and turf main course of poached Royal Red prawns and smoked prime New York strip, both served with charred cippolini beurre blanc, alongside Hasselbeck fingerling potatoes, roasted pac choi and red Russian kale tossed in lemon oil.

An acoustic performance by Marcus Whybrew and Drake Freeman will accompany the dinner portion from 5 to 7 p.m., which will end on a sweet note with a fondue fountain.

From 7 to 8 p.m., guests will be guided through the steps to popular dances such as the rumba, waltz and swing dancing before the evening concludes with an hour of open dancing. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening, and event goers may add a wine pairing to each dinner course for an additional $20.

Tickets are $75 per person for dinner and dancing, and $95 per person to add the wine pairing.
