Franklin pizzeria, Sal’s Family Pizza, has expanded into Nashville, opening a new restaurant at 5545 Edmondson Pike in the Nippers Corner area. The new location celebrated their grand opening on Saturday, November 18.
Sal’s opened its doors back in 2010 in Franklin and at one point had a location on Ward Circle in Brentwood, which has since closed. In talking about why they waited so long to expand, they said they had not been ready until now.

“Sal grew up in a small town in Sicily, Italy where he spent years helping his mother in the kitchen learning the importance of freshness, quality, and consistency. Sal came to Brooklyn, N.Y. in the 1960s and with him came his passion, tradition, and love for food. He was a true innovator, entrepreneur, and an artist, especially in making his authentic N.Y Style Pizza, which he brought with him to Middle Tennessee, so beginning the Story of Sal’s Family Pizza!”
They continued by stating, “Today, restaurateurs Bob Akhundjanov and Roma Rakhmanov are carrying on the legacy and growing Sal’s Family Pizza throughout Middle Tennessee. Bob and Roma worked many years in the restaurant and hotel industry before they finally teamed up with Sal and together they shared great success. Bob and Roma are proud to carry on the tradition of fresh dough made daily, uncompromising quality in every ingredient, and homemade sauces. ”
Diners can find a variety of pizzas, calzones, meatballs, pasta fried calamari, salads, and subs. A dessert menu includes handmade canolli, cheesecake, and zeppoli.
