Christ Presbyterian Academy couldn’t withstand a second-half scoring blitz by Notre Dame, as the Lions fell by a 42-20 score on the road in Friday’s semifinal found of the TSSAA Division II Class AA playoffs.
CPA raced to a 20-14 first-half lead, thanks to two Troy Henderson touchdown catches from Ryan Eledge and a Sam West TD run.
But the Lions, playing without two-way star Kane Patterson, were no match for Notre Dame.
Patterson, who’s being pursued by several Southeastern Conference schools as a linebacker, was especially missed on defense. Fighting Irish star Cameron Wynn wrecked CPA, running 25 times for 238 yards and five touchdowns.
Patterson blew out his knee in last week’s playoff game.
West ran 10 times for 80 yards for the Lions, who had just 11 first downs to Notre Dame’s 29. West also had six stops on defense.
Eledge was 10-of-18 passing for 133 yards, but also threw two interceptions. Henderson caught seven balls for 93 yards.
CPA finishes the season at 10-3.
