Christ Presbyterian Academy wide receiver Noah Henderson had 172 yards receiving and accounted for three touchdowns, as the Lions thrashed Independence, 55-20, on Friday.

CPA (6-2) raced to a 35-7 halftime lead, with Henderson scoring twice on receptions from quarterback Ryan Eledge (18-for-22, 242 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions), and another time on a 99-yard kickoff return.

Star linebacker Kane Patterson led the CPA defense, which allowed 457 yards, with seven tackles. He also added six carries for 58 yards and two touchdowns.

Patterson had one of those interceptions, as did Henderson, Sam West and Dean Cooper.

West had four carries for 66 yards and a touchdown.

A tough season for Independence (3-4) got tougher. Quarterback Nathan Cisco was 30-of-43 for 300 yards, but threw four interceptions.

Independence’s Troy Henderson ran for 107 yards and two scores on 15 carries, and added four catches for 23 yards.

T.J. Sheffield (seven catches, 90 yards) and Kendrell Scurry (3-77) had big receiving nights for Independence.

Independence travels to Dickson County for a game next Thursday, while CPA travels to Goodpasture next Friday.
