Columbia Academy broke open a close game in the second half and erupted for a 56-21 home win over Franklin Road Academy on Friday.

The game got away from FRA in the second half as Panther quarterback Eric Stoxstill-Diggs suffered a minor injury. The senior is expected back next week.

Leading 21-7, Columbia Central converted a fake punt to set up a score, part of a 28-point outburst in the third quarter.

Stoxstill-Diggs hit Lance Wilhoite with touchdown passes of 49 and 81. Stoxstill-Diggs threw for 320 yards on 10-of-25 passing, and Wilhoite had four catches for 152 yards.

Canaan Catlett caught another touchdown pass of 90 yards for FRA (3-4), and Ryley Speed had five receptions for 72.

FRA’s Tymon Mitchell had nine tackles, including one for loss, and a fumble recovery.

Strohn Johnson had seven stops for the Panthers, who were overwhelmed by the Bulldogs’ rushing attack.

Columbia Academy led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Franklin Road Academy travels to Battle Ground Academy on Thursday.
